I repeat: Turbo Manual Civic Hatch
180bhp, 162lb.ft from the 1.5L Turbo. Manual on every grade, except EX-L
And that’s not even yet considering the Si, and Type R

But it’s so ugly though

I’m still very unsure about the looks. The hatch seems too long/slope-y compared to the steeper drop-off that defines the hatch image I like.

Liftback, I repeat...LIFTBACK!
This isn’t a hatchback, and I don’t care what Honda says.

cannot wait to swap its engine into a good looking civic!

Turbo Manual Civic Hatch
This is true for all its competitors, other than the Mazda 3. At least it is in Europe. And that’s excluding the turbo diesels.
It could do with a different rear bumper though. Ugh.

Ugly turbo manual Civic hatch. Give me the drivetrain to put in one of my Preludes and we’ll talk.

Yes, Type-R confirmed. Me want.

Great minds. My 3rd gen Prelude would be a blast with this drivetrain in it. Not that it isn’t fun already.

So ugly

That’s fugly

I might regret this, but show me a car (unmodified) that is uglier than this. I don’t think one exists.

Super-duper ugly....

Which end is the front?! Oh, my eyes! Have the designers ever met each other in person?
![]() 08/15/2016 at 17:52 |

Hot take: I don’t think it’s ugly.

But then, the Civic hatch is made in Britain for the American market. The ship in the picture took the first batch over from Southampton last week.

Don't be silly. It's a coupe. See all the doors?

Ok the BMW i3 is probably uglier.

It really is quite similar to the sedan version. Those ugly holes in the bumper don’t help though. They relatively small ones are questionable in the sedan, they’re hideous in the hatch. Honda tried to hard and failed as a consequence.

but the i3 is funky ugly, like a Picasso.

That is odd. Does it mean they’re expecting it to be a low volume body style in the US? Furthermore, why does Honda still bother in Europe? I believe you guys on the isles still buy Hondas, but here on the continent seeing a <5 year old Honda is rarer than seeing a 1990s Honda.

Five door hatches are very slow sellers in America, it wouldn’t be worth tooling up for them. In addition I don’t think their UK plant is very busy.

Hey, I kinda like the look (But I hate the crosstour and they’re almost the same lol)

The new Malibu.

It’s close but I’d drive it before the honda for sure.

After a family history of having Chevrolet’s, I’d rather walk than own a Malibu, because judging by the past, I would be anyway.

Mazdaspeed3 is manual with a turbocharger too. But I don’t think thats what folks are aiming some of their critiques in regards to the new civic...

Honda has lost its design mind. This is the ugliest car I have ever seen.
It’s like someone dumped a box of 90's transformer toys in front of the designers and said “Use all the shapes from these hideous, crappy toys to make the new Civic. Don’t leave any shapes out or you’ll be fired!”
